As summer approaches there are many events coming to the city and one which may interest beer lovers returns to the centre of Glasgow for the tenth time since its beginning in 2014.
The Glasgow Real Ale Festival, which is ran by the Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) Glasgow and West of Scotland branch, comes back to The Briggait in the city centre for the 2025 edition of the festival and runs from the 19th to the 21st of June.
With over 100 beers on offer, the Glasgow Real Ale Festival is a great opportunity to experience different types of beers you would not be able to find in your local pub. One of the events organisers and chairman of the Glasgow and West of Scotland branch of CAMRA, Stephen Murphy, sees the event as a great way for the people of Glasgow to try new beers.

Murphy thinks the festival “gives you the opportunity to try things you have never tried before…at a price that’s much more reasonable”.
Murphy also confirmed that this year’s festival has a theme which is “The Celtic Nations”. The festival will feature beers from breweries from various Celtic nations.
Murphy stated, “we are ordering beer from Cornwall, the Isle of Man, Wales, Ireland and obviously up the north-west coast of Scotland”.
“32 beers are coming from those nations and then the rest of the order which is around about 52 beers will come from the North of England and the rest of Scotland” Murphy added.
With beers coming from breweries that have never came to the festival before, it will give local beer lovers the chance to try some new, interesting beers which they may never get the chance to try again.
Despite the beer being the main attraction, the festival offers up other drinks such as cider and gin, and has a great selection of food stalls including one from the Paisley Pie Company, so there really is something for everyone, not just beer lovers.
If you are a beer lover or are looking for something to do that weekend in June, head down to the Glasgow Real Ale Festival and taste the wide variety of different beers on offer at this year’s festival.
